The Weekend

What did everyone do this weekend? I hope it was more exciting than sitting in a bar watching gymnastics. Actually, I had a lot of fun doing that. Thanks Salvador and Marty for an interesting evening. Too bad the Mexican food didn't sit that well, eh?

And for those of you that haven't experienced "paan," make sure you go out and get it. It comes wrapped in a leaf and makes your breath fresher than a first-year college student (did anyone get that?).

Amritsar was good, and my first local bus ride wasn’t too bad – I definitely need to ride on top for one trip, I have also recruited Vladan, anyone else fancy riding with the wind in your hair and the bugs in your face? has anyone already done it???

The accommodation at the golden temple was … cosy … for the first night – 6 people in one double bed, little did we know that outside the room there was a whole row of beds available – and not the floor as thousands of Indians took!

I’m glad I saw the Wagah border, but because I stupidly went into the middle of the stand I was pushed around all the time – I think I have been squashed by enough sweaty overexcited Indians for a lifetime now!

The weekend would have been a bit better if there was an alcohol available – who’d have thought there would be no alcohol shop outside the Sikh Golden Temple?! Maybe we could have had the ‘talent, no, potential‘ conversation like Kent, Marty and Salvador if there was whisky around :)

Yeah I want the open top bus ride!! Count me in, though this would probably be frowned upon- being a girl most things are!!
My weekend was spent in Manali, what an amazing place! My bus ride was also an experience, what was supposed to be a deluxe bus was an oversold crowded bus cum delivery truck!! They loaded the storage compartment with boxes of apples, so when it stopped to pick up more passengers (backpackers) there was no room for the luggage and they actually had no seats for them…after much arguments and confusion everyone just crowded on the bus with bags all over the aisle!! It was…interesting, as I had to come back early I was all alone on the 10 hour trip so at least I was entertained!!

On a separate note, there may or may not be something happening in 36C tonight…a gathering of some variety, so keep your hectic diaries free and I’ll keep you posted!!!

excellent usage of the word "cum." Well done, Jean.

Well... I didn't. :) I can only guess the meaning, but it doesn't sound funny to me. :)

it wasn't meant to be that funny...more of a pun really. In case anyone doesn't know, "fresher" is the term given to first year college students. Hence, "fresher than first year college students."
