Leaving Party

As i mentioned last week, it's time for Marty's last chance to party in Chandigarh tonight!

And as an added feature... it's going to be Marian's leaving party too! :( (i'll be alone in the house soon!)

so, since the38ers didn't object to the idea of it being in their house, the party will be in 38 tonight.

see you all about 9pm ish!

Cricket Anybody?

England are playing India in mohali in a Test Match in the middle of march - i forget the date exactly...

The tickets are on sale today, so hopefully we can buy them tomorrow, General Admission is 200Rs, and we would go on the saturday.

Between Jamie and myself, we should be able to tell anybody the basic rules of the game if you are clueless about the rules.

Also, the saturday will be the 4th day, and so will probably be the most exciting day of the 5 the Test match will run for, so it should be an experience not to be missed.

SMS me or reply to the post if you want to go (as soon as possible!)

Olympics Update - Day 14

And Germany is still kicking all of our butts! Johanjimin - Has Germany ever one top place in the Winter Olympics before?

(1st place: Germany - Benhanna - 9 gold, 10 silver, 5 bronze = 24 medals.)

Canada - Samantha - 5 gold, 8 silver, 6 bronze = 19.

Czech Republic - Lucie - 1 gold, 2 silver = 3.

Australia - Ry - 1 gold, 1 bronze = 2.

Japan - Yas and the new trainee whom I haven't met yet and don't know the name of because a certain blog administrator hasn't updated the sidebar... - 1 gold = 1.

Great Britain - Jamie, An - 1 silver = 1.

Slovakia - Marian - 1 silver = 1.

Chile - Nacho - 0.

Ireland - Jean - 0.

India - 0.

Just a couple more days to go...

This Festival of Gardens sounds interesting. Anyone else know anything about it?

Two parties in six days!!!

Ok, it's not quite as impressive as the heady heights of the summer parties, but it's a start!

Marty will be back soon, so before he leaves India, we'll need to have a final leaving party. rumours are also circulating that Nicholas is also around at this time... so what more reason do we need to have another party!

Not sure of any more details though...

As always, Panchkula is on offer to host the party, but people are reluctant to come visit us, so anywhere else is fine too.

See y'all tonight! 9ish?

Party!!! / Party???

It seems we are now at full strength again for trainees - welcome back to Nacho and Jean, and welcome to our new trainee from Japan (i've only heard rumours of her existence so far...)

So i think we need have li'l party to welcome (back) everyone! Especially since we will soon be losing Marian and Yas!

How about Wednesday night?

Panchkula is always on offer, but it would probably make more sense for the two panch-cool-ians to go to 38 rather than the other way around... if you guys don't mind of course!

Beware of Biman

This is a warning to everyone - under no circumstances fly on Biman Bangladesh airlines unless you enjoy waiting around indefintely and want to spend an unspecified duration in Dhaka with no passports, tickets or documents.
They do however provide excellent hotels just like off a film set - say the one from 'The Shining'...

Anyway see you all Tuesday if we ever make it back to incredible India!

Posted by Jean and Nacho stuck in Kuala Lumpur Airport waiting for a supposed (already 43 hours delayed) flight to Dhaka.

PS Don't eat the food they supply either - it tastes of nothing!

Olympics Standings - Day 7

It is now Day 7 of the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. I checked and all our countries (below) have representatives competing at these Olympic Games. Let's see how our respective countries are doing in the medal standings (and remember, winning isn't everything):

Canada - Samantha - 1 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.

Great Britain - Jamie, Jean and Ryan - 1 silver.

Czech Republic - Lucie - 1 silver.

Slovakia - Marion - 1 silver.

Chile - Nacho - 0.

Japan - Jas - 0.

India - 0.

It's a good thing Ben and Johanna aren't still here, because they'd be kicking our asses with 10 medals (5 of them gold)!

Very sneaky, Mr. Hill!

I see what you did to the trainee blog links! Very clever!

Next PIGS Get-together

The next get-together of PIGS (Punjab International Gourmet Society) will be on Sunday 5 March 2006.

Address: Sandra's house (I won't post the address, but I think most of you have been to her house. If not, ask Jean, Nacho or I, because we all got the e-mail invite.)

Time: 12:00 p.m. onwards

Although her message didn't say specifically, it would probably be a good idea to bring some food/drink to contribute.

Happy Valentines Day!

I know this is a bit late, but i just wanted to wish everybody a Happy Valentines Day.

I must say, Valentines 2006 has been most successful for me... I even got two presents!

  • A Cadbury's Chocolate Eclair from my colleague Ajay
  • A 50 paise sweet from Marian

I feel so spoiled!

Anyway, time to spread the love! And the rumours...

Marian: Sam said she "really fancies you and wants to give you a kiss"!

Lucie: Yas wants to have "extra lessons with his professor"

Nacho: Blacky is looking for you. He's carrying a rose.

Jamie: Lucie said she lurves you!!!

Sam: Lucie AND Jamie said they lurve you!!!

Jean: Nacho wants to take you back to Chile and make babies!

Ryan: Marian is cooking a romantic dinner for you tonight

Yas: Jean thinks you're cute when you're drunk, and she's gonna "take advantage of that chunk of love right there"!

Blacky: Ryan is looking for you.

Pétanque anyone?

Hey Chandigarh!

Hola from Malaysia!

Kuala Lumper is beautiful & nobody asks me where I'm from cos nobody cares it's great!Though I'm probably the only westerner here who thinks it's expensive...coming from India I guess that was bound to happen!
And everywhere smells like meat - when you ask for vegetarian food it means no red meat...not good I miss pure veg India!
There's so many things to buy I wish I had more money, today I seen a (pirated) version of the complete Simpsons series...not buying that is going to be tough, I need to leave this city before I go bankrupt!

See you all later!

Poker Night

I know everybody is going travelling on Thursday night, but how about having a poker game on Thursday evening?...  Say about 7pm…

Sam and I would like to play for money, but if people (Marian) don’t want to do that we could come up with some sort of forfeit/reward system…

Sam has poker chips we can use, so all that would be needed is a place to play (38?...) some beer and, in the true poker style, some cigars for those that want.

More French Films

This looks interesting. The only director I've heard of is Jean-Luc Godard and the only film I've heard of is Madame Bovary, so those might be safer bets. Anyone else have any film recommendations? (Click on the image to get a bigger picture so that you can read the text.)

Also, although it says you can get a free pass from the Alliance, so far I've never seen them checking for them.

Here's To Indian Drivers...

This is just a BIG, HUGE thank you to the driver who knocked me off my bike on the way to work this morning, I really like such events first thing in the morning - sets me up for the day ahead.

But thanks to you poor Esteban is out of action and his front wheel is smashed. It was also very considerate of everyone to stare & not ask if I'm ok as I got up from my ass on the road.

Just for the record I am.
